Background
Chuck founded Kryptonics, Inc., where he developed the PU formulations for many products, including skateboard, roller skate, and inline skate wheels. Kryptonics became the premier manufacturer of these products and grew to producing a peak volume of over 2 million inline skate wheels in a single month. His extensive background includes positions of founder, president, research and development director, treasurer, investor, and advisor to manufacturing companies, technology businesses, nonprofits, trade associations, and the U.S. government. He has created hundreds of polyurethane formulations.
MOCA
MOCA (methylene bis orthochloroaniline) is a great PU curative but is now highly regulated. Chuck has avoided using this chemical in all his PU formulations since 1980, and is now helping others to replace MOCA with alternative formulations.
Education
Mr. Demarest received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Princeton University, where he also had extensive course work in mathematics and physics. He furthered his formal education with graduate work at the University of Colorado in nuclear physics, chemistry, and mathematics.
Mountaineering
Chuck has been an active mountaineer for many years and has climbed peaks in the US and around the world. He has solo climbed all 54 peaks in Colorado over 14,000 feet, and summited Mt. Everest in 1998. He has been an active member of the mountain rescue team in Boulder, CO, having participated or led over 1,000 mountain rescue missions.
